May prevent resistance from developing to X or Z. Ursolic acid is poorly absorbed and can be dangerous. I found a standarized 10x Apple Peel Extract from Maple Life Sciences called Green Apple 10:1 on eBay...ships from India but only took about 10 days to receive.

Rosemary and Thyme spices do you sprinkle on your food or do you add it to your stew or fish or chicken breast? Are frozen elderberries or canned as good as freshly picked?

Hello! My hormonal treatment is Zytiga. My supplements are curcumin, green tea and pomegranate juice.

Actually, that's a pretty good combination for any PCa patient, whether or not they are taking Xtandi or Zytiga.

That article reported on the use of a rapid screening technique to identify the combination of reseveratrol, curcurmin, and ursolic acid. The history and literature on Metformin is very large, there's really no good reason that every single prostate cancer patient isn't prescribed it.

The main caveat is that they did this study in mice. They are very, very good at curing cancer in mice and rats. Humans, not so much.

This says cranberries:

Ursolic acid and its esters: occurrence in cranberries and other Vaccinium fruit and effects on matrix metalloproteinase activity in DU145 prostate tumor cells.

Abstract

BACKGROUND:

Ursolic acid and its cis- and trans-3-O-p-hydroxycinnamoyl esters have been identified as constituents of American cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon), which inhibit tumor cell proliferation. Since the compounds may contribute to berry anticancer properties, their content in cranberries, selected cranberry products, and three other Vaccinium species (V. oxycoccus, V. vitis-idaea and V. angustifolium) was determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy. The ability of these compounds to inhibit growth in a panel of tumor cell lines and inhibit matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity associated with tumor invasion and metastasis was determined in DU145 prostate tumor cells.

RESULTS:

The highest content of ursolic acid and esters was found in V. macrocarpon berries (0.460-1.090 g ursolic acid and 0.040-0.160 g each ester kg(-1) fresh weight). V. vitis-idaea and V. angustifolium contained ursolic acid (0.230-0.260 g kg(-1) ), but the esters were not detected. V. oxycoccus was lowest (0.129 g ursolic acid and esters per kg). Ursolic acid content was highest in cranberry products prepared from whole fruit. Ursolic acid and its esters inhibited tumor cell growth at micromolar concentrations, and inhibited MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity at concentrations below those previously reported for cranberry polyphenolics.

CONCLUSION:

Cranberries (V. macrocarpon) were the best source of ursolic acid and its esters among the fruit and products tested. These compounds may limit prostate carcinogenesis through matrix metalloproteinase inhibition.

That article was by far the prettiest article with the highest number of big words that I did not know, ever! Now, does anyone have anything written using terms that I can understand; that was not a study using rats or mice to illustrate the benefits of this combination of supplements?

If you want a study of supplements affecting prostate cancer in human trials, there is a discussion about Pectasol-C

There are other studies of supplements, but I don't know of any human trials with ursolic acid.

Here is a list of 49 clinical trials involving prostate cancer that included "dietary supplement" as part of the intervention.

Of course this now raises the issue we just dealt with, quality control of supplier-in this case NOW-which seems to be one of the more reliable manufacturers, or do we need to do some sort of analysis to validate this assertion?

Also, how do we determine how much product to take to reach the supposedly optimal blood levels ? In this case, each dose is labeled 1400mg , but I know Dr. Myers would routinely determine a dose usually higher than the label. Is there an absorbing calculation , or do you just guess with the label dose ?

Does Metformin curcumin cause loose stool for anyone?

FCoffey profile image
FCoffey in reply to George71

Some people report that. Myers cautions about it.

I haven't seen it. I get loose stool from time to time, but I've been taking metformin for years and do high-dose curcumin from time to time, and don't notice any strong correlation.

In Birm there is ursolic acid? so no need for extra supplement?

In the LE curcumin you mentioned holy basil as well but I don't find in the ingredients. Will check. Do you take any specific label?
