This is a very new treatment in oncology. I am glad to know that is being used in PC, since it has potential for cure. It has worked very well in leukemia when it works. Thanks for sharing the information

Since it is at the CITY of Hope I’m actually going to have a discussion with his MO. Dr.Dorff is aware that he is most likely NEPC since PSA Low and Chromogranin A is in the 400s. My fathers side effects so far to chemo (Jevtana and carboplatin) has been tolerable but how many can one take?? And how long is cancer remission possible..plus it didn’t lower PSA or Chromogranin after 2nd one... I’m worried it’s not working and i don’t want to wast time like we did with Xtandi. I’m just curious if someone has had this treatment here in this community.

Does a biopsy needs to be done for this?

for neuro endocrine canceer, the Lu is the (radioactive) warhead, and somatostatin is the guidance system. The two are joined together to make a targeted drug. The treatement goes by PRRT. PSMA is another guidance system (membrane molecule to use as a target). I did not remember that combination PSMA+Lu, but many similar things (guidance+warhead) are being tried.

Thanks. I am trying to understand the difference, if there is one, or are some, between small cell cancer and neuroendocrine (prostate cancer) and more generally neuroendocrine cancer. What I have said is pretty much what I feel I know. Univeristy of Iowa is doing a lot on PRRT, so that is a resource. I know that many want to replace the beta particle warhead with an alpha particle warhead (radium 223 or actinium) but those efforts have not "panned out" after many years and lots of money. Other places have asked the drug manufacturer - do you mind if we try from where you gave up? and they said - be our guest.
