Hi is the Zytiga being used as his first treatment or as a result of his prostate cancer becoming hormone resistant? This may help with the posts that follow? 👍

I have been on for about 13 months. Will not know what my next step is until I have Oncologist appointment at the end of March. It is a little different for everyone. I have been told in the past by my doctor that he has never had a patient go over 3 years. Good luck!

The two main Studies, involving hundreds of men, that were the basis for the FDA approval of Zytiga are described in Section 14 Clinical Studies, of the Full Prescribing Information package insert for Zytiga. Text, charts, and tables provide information pertaining to Overall Survival, Time to Radiographic Progression, and Time to the use of Opiates for pain.

accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatf...

You will get additional Individual data points from men here, but keep in mind that the statistical "mean" is one thing, and among all trial participants/patients, "somebody" will have either shorter or longer times for a favorable/unfavorable response on either side of the "mean". Keep that in mind when you contemplate the statistical Kaplan-Meier Curves and decide how you or your Dad will choose to think and feel about your individual circumstances in life as you all continue to Live during this phase of treatment.

My husband did very well on Zytiga for 8 months but next step Provenge was really bad for him. In Hospital now for past seven days, Had a transfusion..became anemic and his exhaustion is definitely from that, He entered hospital with 101.3 degrees, and the Dr.s are trying to give him test after test trying to find out why. ....Xtandi is awaiting him next. I wd. appreciate knowing results from those of you on it or were on it..bad results..terrible side effects, or?? You followers of sidnw......your thoughts...

I got just about 18 months on it, after getting 2 years on ketoconazole before zytiga was approved, being heavily pretreated with ketoconazole they thought i would not respond to zytiga ,as keto and zytiga are both cyp17 inhibitors ,but I did, after psa went on a slow rise to about 17 , I stayed on zytiga and added xtandi to it and rode that for 2.5 years. Everyone is different and we never know what will work and for how long till we try it. I wish the best for you and your Dad

Dan, Sid is coming home tom.,Sdy. They also thought there was problem with liver..2 small cysts...inf, disease Dr. took another test of kidney and came back saying not to worry..liver OK ..they were still doing bacteria tests..said they couldn't find anythg. there, and we are hoping that bizarre tiredness he had will lessen. He started Xandi today..only one to begin.....hope no bad reactions...

I'm happy for the inf. being gone even tho they don't knowwhat it was.

After corresponding with some of you one actually feels a friendship.

Shyrlene, Thank You for this news , it is the first thing I read this morning, and it makes me happy and gives a sense of relief.Glad to hearliver and kidneys ok, I assume the transfusion brought the red blood cells back and he is stable there. Xtandi can make a guy tired, and if so, just sleep a couple extra hours, that is what I did. All the best to You and Sid. I am in Upstate NY

I'm sorry (I really am!) but my PSA started skyward again after only three months on Zytiga. But I believe I am right up the sharp end of this curse - I was diagnosed a year ago with a Gleason score of 5,4. Hoping to move on to radium 233 in the next two or three weeks.

That’s ok I wanted to know and I realize every body’s Body is different no person or cancer is the same other then it’s pristraye cancer. Thank u and good luck with the radium

I started in July '17, an while the first three months the PSA held steady or dipped, it doubled in month 4 so we went right to Xtandi, which actually made my progression accelerate. So for now back to Docetaxel for ten rounds to try and put this sucker in it's place.

Hi Olivia007

My husband was put on Zytiga after casodex quit working. Didn't work then for him neither did Xdandi Thos past year after chemo taxotere , put on Zytiga thinking the taxotere did so much damage to the cancer that it would work, PSA started to double right a way and now we are looking after lymph nodes were found for either Keytuda or some other clinicial trial? Our oncologist said that there are so many men that after chemo do well on Zytiga ?? Well. Like we said no two people are alike with there cancer. My husband did go nine years with a hormone needle and casodex? Go figure,?? now neither Zytiga nor Xtandi worked for him.???? I'm very anxious and worried until Ed get the results of his biopsy, Sam is now 74, started at age 65.

Hope your Dad continues to stay strong and does well. Bless you and your family.

Sincere.y, Lynn

Thank you, I hope and pray for your husband and u. It’s always amazing what every doctor puts their patients on it’s all different . But the same it’s just depends if they start with it or it’s used in the middle or last I’m so confused. But wish all of us Luck. Thank u again. Olivia

My husband has been on Zytiga for a month and has terrible bone pain. He has lost his appetite too. He had 14 radiation treatments to the skull in March 2018 where lesions were found from the prostate cancer. Our MO has referred us to Boston Dana Farber to a Urologist Oncologist. Appointment is next Tuesday. I was hopeful the Zytiga would be a miracle drug. Maybe we have to wait more than a month for results???

I've been on 3HT, Zytiga Lupron, Avodart for 33 months, PSA - <1.

Before that, Lupron, Casodex and Avodart for 14 years..

Just staying on top of the information for if or when I need it

I've been on Zytiga for a year and a half. So far so good. Doc says it should be good for at least 5 years.
