Xtandi and alcohol

I do like a drink, not excessively but a few beers and a glass of wine in the evening. Can’t find anything in the literature to say if this has an influence on the efficacy of xtandi . Doctor doesn’t seem to think so but I was wondering if anybody has views on this

I used to love a drink or two but after going out recently and having a great night out with friends and actually forgetting just for a moment I had prostate cancer I over indulged a little (a bottle of wine) I am on Zytiga with Predisone so a different drug however the following day I thought I was going to hospital. The effect was so awful both mentally and physically it took me weeks to get over it!! It was totally my own fault and since then I haven’t touched more than the odd beer, (feel fine with 1)My medication effects the liver and I feel I overloaded it. Your medication may not be effected I’m sure the guys on here will know. I hope you can still get to enjoy a glass of wine! 👍

Hello. We have for decades had a couple glasses of red wine in the evening. We had a perfect health record until this dx. This week we had green tea, and I don’t feel as well, but we aren’t on Zytiga and Prednisone yet, so thanks for the warning! Mrs. S

Give your car keys to a good friend at the bar and have yourself a couple of Shirley Temples.

I have used Xtandi and Zytiga effectively for five years, and have found a few alcoholic drinks that seem to be well tolerated. My short list is dry red wine, single malt scotch, and rice beers like Kirin and Bud Light. A glass of these beverages every once in a while has been fine for me.

About $10,000/month for drugs and $10/month for alcohol is a healthy mix.

A good Mediterranean or Paleo diet seems much more important to treating cancer than complete abstinence.

I am/was a lover of wines so it is depressing for me to share this with you. But alcohol is listed as a carcinogen. cancer.org/cancer/cancer-ca...

It would not upset me if someone proves me wrong. It would be great to go back to having a glass of wine with my husband.

A bit late for me now !! I am trying to find out if alcohol influences the efficacy of xtandi. From what I have researched thus far , seems little or none.

Been on Xtandi close to 4 years. Only drink when I go out socially a few times a week and then max 2 drinks. With that consumption I’ve had no additional side effects and no impact on effectiveness of drug .(Non-detectable PSA all this time). Hope this helps.

Thanks for that - it does seem as long as you are sensible a few drinks seem to be ok . I am not sure if xtandi will work that well for me . Psa has dropped from 30 to 6 and then five weeks later to 5. Next blood test in January. Doctor thinks it may not be a long term option for me. Hoping to get on Lutetium 177 trial in the new year if not will probably pay for it.
