I have occasional swelling in my ankles and feet (and one point this involved my calves as well). The swelling gets worse as the day goes on and is often most uncomfortable late at night. By morning the swelling is down. My oncologist attributes this to damage to the lymph nodes occasioned by the heavy radiation I had up and down my spine in late-July. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?

Blocked lymph nodes after radiation/ swollen ankles & feet
I wonder if sauna's would help ? Its not a cure option but maybe it would lessen the swelling at night. Also support compression socks will help. My husband has this problem in his ankles. He uses compression socks during the day and at night I try to get him to take a sauna. I am not sure what his is from but we find that these strategies help a little. I also have him stay well hydrated. .as it seems like dehydration can make it worse.(We live in a dry area so it is easy to get dehydrated here). I hope you feel better!
i have this too and am taking diuretics and cutting back on salt consumption. it may not be the same as yours but the symptoms are the similar
Not personally, but you might get some ideas at this site.

(I have met breast cancer patients who wear compression garments on their arms, and who visit physical therapists who specialize in lymphatic draining massage techniques, sometimes for years after having had major lymph nodes removals at the time of their surgeries.)
Yes, I have that issue also of swelling lower legs from damaged / removed lymph nodes. Ask your Dr. for a prescription for compression socks, they work for me. Most insurance policies will pay or subsidize compression socks and you can also order from amazon etc.
Hi Ian2017
Hi Ian what a coincidence as you you are using code 2017 Ha ha.
Sorry to hear you have a new flare up after your 2014 prostatectomy.
I hope you are coping better now after your ICU incident.
For me I have 2 hospital stays since being diagnosed 28 October 17.
I have mentioned that I have donated $4000 which was from my pension fund in January 17 to the Council of Deaf & Blind and now being rewarded/repaid from my kind gesture.
So far through my journey I am still pain free and fatigue free apart from a little tiredness during the day as I have frequent urination during the night.
Wish you have a better journey in your up coming chemotherapy.
As for me I am happy so far if I can maintain a status quo.
I know most of you are contemplating a perfect psa score of nil.
I think this reality is like going on steroid and god knows how often it's final conclusion reveals,
This morning Curtis40a introduced me to Jeffrey Dach.
In his research papers it reveals all the current approved cancer treatment had its limitations so it's not a cure but a treatment which it effectiveness will eventually comes to an end hence your recurrence.
All the best to your chemotherapy treatment.

I had primary radiation treatment. I also have slight swelling and stiffness in my ankles. Didn't realize it could be a by product of radiation. I have had many CTs, and MRI's in course of treatment of prostate cancer and idopathic lung disease (now gone). Has anyone else experienced swelling in the ankles that may be a result of radiation?
