Well I guess I finally have something to take my mind off Having APC.

My urologist has a dim view of brachytherapy and said that it is losing favor as a treatment option. Just reporting what I heard him say.

Over the years it has been observed that some specialists are more likely to recommend the type of treatment they provide; for example, radiation oncologists prefer radiation therapy, while urologists choose surgery. The classic "when your only tool is a hammer, all problems start to look like a nail". In many places the large investments for something like robotic surgery machines can turn them into "revenue centers", and may also cloud the picture of recommending one treatment over another, compared to what it may have been before.

Yes, I agree. Something to keep in mind when it is time to decide on your treatment. That's what makes PC so challenging -- too many choices and decisions, all of them scary.

That certainly is true which is why everyone should get various opinions. I went to urologist, urologist oncologists, and oncologist all three from different hospitals. But guess what? They all three recommended same starting treatment which was surgery followed with radiation. And two actually specialized in other treatments meaning they didn’t really do robotics one preferred hifu-(ultrasound) and other did surgery and chemo routinely but they had the equipment available. Anyway so far I feel very comfortable with my doctor but I will keep questioning at every stage. I guess living in /near a major medical has advantages
