Where can I get adhd resources for executive function? I'm a single mom on a 1 income nursing salary. My Dr recommends that I get a adhd coach. I can't afford this bc I can't manage my money correctly or anything else for that matter.

Well, pretty much all discussion of ADHD is about executive function, weak executive function ....
I've got some tips that might help.
Each time you feel like spending money, or before going shopping, do 10min of mindful meditation, or yoga. This can help clear your mind and give you perspective. Most every time after I'm done meditating my desires and perspective about things change for the better.
Another thing you can do if you are going shopping, or going to spend money, write down what you plan to purchase. Writing things down is huge for people with ADHD. Writing, especially pen on paper (not typing on a phone), activates your executive function. I think you'll find that while writing things down you will be able to better consider the value of each purchase. If you write down the price, even better.
And don't ever say "Can't", especially as someone with ADHD. If there is one thing I have observed from people with ADHD it is creativity, problem solving skills, and being relentless. If there is something that you need, like an ADHD coach, sit down and write down a plan on how you "CAN" do it. You don't have to know how ahead of time. But sit down, maybe pretending like it is something you have to do because your life and family depend on it, and come up with a plan on how to do that.
Meditation, exercise, and writing are all ways to use and improve your executive function when done with a positive attitude. They are also great forms of self care.
I know this stuff is hard, but you got this.
Hello, Nightnurse4ever`
First, welcome to the group! Secondly, I would like to just mention that you could easily change your user name to a more positive one, such as "Nightnurse4now" and give yourself a ray of hope (don't mean to be a nag- sorry )
Here are a couple of resources that might help you out:
1) Betterhelp.com
This website pairs you up with counseling, etc AND can be on a sliding scale.. It can also be via email, zoom or text, or other preferred communication.
2) Book- get 2nd edition of "Taking charge of Adult ADHD:" by Russell Barkely PhD and Christine Benton. This has been an invaluable read for me, and really helped me out.
Get your kids involved- can they help you set up a white board ? Are they old enough to do this yet?
3) White board with monthly calendar. Keep all your appointments, etc visible and use it, have your kids use it, etc.
4) Money management- I like MINT - it's easy to use. Yes, you need to set it up first, but then maintaining is easy peasy. BUT, hey, if you can pass all of those exams to be a nurse, you can do this too!!!
Hope this ideas and resources help you out.... Good luck on your journey!
Best regards
