Shalom Dalia, welcome to our community! I’m so glad you found out you have ADHD just having that knowledge is gonna help a lot. I can relate so much. Pm me and we can chat further!
Sorry I'm so late to the game here, but welcome Dalia! I was diagnosed just about a year ago at the age of 50, and I felt (hell, still FEEL) like I'm getting to know myself again - but this time through a much more compassionate and understanding lens. A lot of my "weaknesses" or "faults" now have a reason/cause and I'm really having to take a look at my thoughts and actions differently. I wish you all the best as you take this journey!
Jozlynn----- 'I felt (hell, still FEEL) like I'm getting to know myself again'. Often I feel like I'm still trying to learn who the real me is. My family is/was very dysfunctional (and they don't want to change) so that throws a lot more gasoline on the fire. I believe that my family's ADHD is the root cause of my family dysfunction.
Hi FindingTheAnswers! I SO feel that. I'm convinced all 3 of my adult daughters, who all have dysfunctional issues going on, are all undiagnosed ADHD. We've battled addiction, isolation, you name it - and I think a major cause is that they're undiagnosed. My oldest was JUST diagnosed (as in, last week) and is starting Strattera, so I'm incredibly interested to see how/what changes. It sucks when they don't WANT to change though.
