Changes after meds
Well you can generally read about the effects of ADHD meds. They range and are very individual-dependent. I have had meds affect me one way for a period of time and then three years later had them effect me in another way.
It would be more helpful if you said more about yourself.
The meds can:
improve concentration
improve level of calm
improve level of organization and ability to plan
some people get extra energy from meds
Some people would say a med quiets their mind
But each individual's story will be quirky. You get diagnosed by going to a psychologist or psychiatrist. Some people tell their PCP that they suspect they have ADHD.

Thanks for your response! I knew I suffered from ADD after stumbling on a link while reading an article about OCD in October. I had almost all symptoms and in the past five years or ten years, they'd gotten much worse. My PCP said that I "probably" had ADHD recommending that I contact a psychiatrist for medication and counseling. After contacting eight psychiatrists to try to schedule an appointment, I found that none of them is accepting new patients. BTW, I am severely hearing impaired and disabled. Twice I have left messages for my PCP about this but she hasn't responded.
On this site, I have read how some people claim their meds have really helped them. Adderal is the only medication I know of and don't know the names of others. Thank you for saying what meds can do. I am so overwhelmed every day and crying all the time in frustration. I don't know what to do next. Looking back over the decades, ADD has wrecked my life.
