Hi everyone, my name is Martin, from Ecuador.. I suspect I have ADHD, probably all my life, here in my country I cannot find real information online about this, Im almost 40 so is a little uncomfortable to ask to people here (they think is just a kids problem or that I'm making excuses for my failures) is very frustrating, my question is.... Do anyone knows a good and modern thinking profesional in US or other country that can evaluate me via on line? Thanks!
ADHD Evaluation via online: Hi everyone... - CHADD's Adult ADH...
ADHD Evaluation via online
There is an online service called DONE that evaluates you in a video call, like zoom. It is online so probably available to you. They use Nurse Practiconers who can also prescribe medication and it can be shipped to you. Do not know if this can be done to Equador. I have used them and they cost $199 for the evaluation. At least it is worth a shot. Also there is one called AHEAD that only provides the evaluation and a report from a clinical psychologist.
Thanks a lot!! I will probably get an evaluation first online and then I will think about take medication if its needed, with the supervision of some doctor here in Ecuador. Thank you very much for your help..
Be very gentle with yourself Martin. You don't want a quick diagnosis. Find a therapist who will give you hope, and will help you manage your symptoms. Put your heart and your self-esteem before a diagnosis, and find a good therapist who will help you push back against what you got going on.
Hola Martin,
It's hard to get a diagnosis as an adult in the US too, so you are not alone. I am 52, and female and being female makes it even harder because all the symptoms most widely used to diagnose are based on males, which present differently. So I can emphasize with you tremendously. Especially because my insurance provider uses the only metric to see who has ADHD of being diagnosed by age 12. I was 12 in 1982, and at that time it was thought that only boys could have the disorder. So there was no way for me to get diagnosed. I feel your pain. I am fighting the system now, but not optimistic I will get diagnosed. I know I have it, and it runs in my family. Don't you have nationalized healthcare in Ecuador? Does it include mental health? Is there no one who diagnoses adults in the entire country? I wish you luck!!
