Medication/ADHD Evaluation Question

Hi I'm new here, both me and my therapists have agreed for years that I have ADHD and I've shown worsening symptoms since I was a kid, my executive functioning is making it impossible to hold a job. I finally want to get on medication for it, but I'm not sure how. I can't afford to get an ADHD evaluation done because they're like $1k+ and I financially support myself but don't make a lot of money. Is it possible to just see a psychiatrist and get ADHD medication, or do you need a formal evaluation and diagnosis from a neurologist to qualify for medication? Any responses, advice, or tips would be helpful! Located in the USA fyi.

It was a smooth and quick process for me personally, and the video calls at home are pretty convenient after you pick who you want to have the evaluation done with.

I just wanted to say thank you for the recommendation because they took my insurance and I only had to pay a $10 copay, they got me in the next day and diagnosed me with ADHD and today prescribed me Adderall and I can start tomorrow! Truly the best recommendation ever I never thought I'd find any success in this process so I really appreciate it and recommend anyone else use it that qualifies and needs the help

That's awesome to hear I'm glad I could help! I didn't even really shop around much since I found that place first but it's been great. I love these more modern friendly options

ADHD meds.
