I wish I could find a lucrative creative job. Office work along with managing budgets is really eating at me. Especially with number dyslexia. 10 years of this and it’s like I’m barely keeping my mouth and nose above water. Living in the Midwest US doesn’t help since the arts are not a high priority.
Can anyone relate?

Space head, I can SO relate to your circumstance. I am a nurse of 23 yrs. I became more and more miserable as the years went by. I have a low tolerance for boredom (shocking right) and so I have experienced many healthcare roles. I was bound by the "golden hand cuffs " security: good steady pay with regular increases, good benefits and I loved nursing but not the JOB anymore. I remember what the last straw was when I arrived at work and started crying in my car. I was scared as shit but I broke out of those handcuffs. I didn't feel so trapped anymore. I too want to use my creativity and experience. I am looking at volunteering somewhere that will fulfill a need in me and also gives an opportunity to check out another line of work.
I think getting an experienced life or career coach would be valuable. You have endless options to find one that fits now that we are doing zoom.
One thing I would caution you on is to move because you think life would be better somewhere else. Maybe it would but do some real soul searching and research before you go anywhere.
Thank you. You’re right, online opportunities does change things. Good idea. A next step is scary but I think soul searching is what I’ll be doing no matter what. My main priority is to help provide for my family. Luckily my wife makes pretty good money, but I don’t want to make a decision that will put most of the responsibilities on her. Time for some prayer and contemplation. Thank you again for your feedback!
