I'm scared to fail or look bad at my new job. I worked 6 years to get this opportunity. Fighting depression, anxiety and add. Some how I made it and was given a shot. I've had so many crappy jobs that paid 10 bucks an hour and now this. Its very scary. I always feel not good enough.

That’s awesome!! Congratulations!! My best results happen when I Breathe, just breathe. Good luck and I hope you have a fantastic first day.

Thank you. I focused on breathing and it helped

Congratulations! That is a big accomplishment. Shows that you have grit. Fighting depression, anxiety and ADD shows just how strong and tenatious you are.

It is completely understandable that you are scared and nervous. It's a new job that you worked hard for so it makes sense that you have those feelings. You care this time. Remember you worked 6 years for this opportunity. They must have seen something they want. :). What is it about you that helped you get this job? Try to remember those qualities and breathe. Hammock-Ivr is absolutely right. Breathing helps ease anxiety and opens up your mind to the bigger picture and will help set you up for success. What are other strategies to fight your anxiety that work for you? Use them and you will rock this.

Also, remember, that sleep, diet and exercise will help your brain and your anxiety. Talk to your Doctor if your medicine brings on anxiety. Maybe there's another medicine that will work better.

Good luck!

I fight that every day: never forget that comparing our “inside” to others' “outside” is a cognitive trap to which ADHD makes us especially vulnerable.

If I had a nickel for every time I challenge myself, silence the mental equivalent of Alice's white rabbit screaming “late” from the back corner of the room (whether I am or not), etc., I might be able to retire before I become this generation's Methuselah!

Congratuations, and know that they selected you because you have something that will help them to be a stronger organization. They had other choice candidates, but you were given the job. Rest on the fact that you worked to get to this point, and you can continue to give good effort and see the results that you want.

I've been the same way for years and it's held me back. I was always afraid to ask for what I knew I deserved at work, well, and at home for that matter but that's a story for another day. This week I asked for a promotion! I think we have impostor syndrome. I'm pretty sure that at any moment someone is going to realize that I'm not good enough or smart enough to be in my position. I revert back to the same grade school kid who was told by a teacher, "You'll never amount to anything." Nice, right? Don't do that to yourself. dgs2018 is right! They had other candidates, they picked you! They didn't give you the job because they felt sorry for you. They picked you over everyone else because you can do it! I'm excited for you! Take a deep breath and remember that.

When I'm feeling that way I watch this

Fake it until you become it!

Good luck!
