Is anyone else awake?

I'm up late
Late, early. I awake, frequently, at 3 AM and then cannot get back to sleep.
I know: get up, read a bit, then go back to bed. Sometimes that works, but often I get too wound up. So you can’t get to bed. A big problem for lots or ADHD people. My grandson doesn’t go to sleep until 4 AM frequently and then can’t get up to do anything. Sluggish all afternoon as well. I used to teach in a residential school—although I had no dormitory responsibilities.
The students were notorious for staying up well past midnight and then having trouble when their 7:30 AM classes started. In part, their problem was that they were “severely gifted.” So full of ideas and curiosity that they couldn’t get to sleep.
There's the solidarity of that. I'm hoping any of this will help someone someday, even if it's not me.
Was awake throughout last night: backlogged tasks (mostly computer set-up) started a year ago (and superseded by workplace overload) that I need to finish to kick a new job search into high gear.
(Position was one of several cut—behind the back of the VP to whom I reported, who found out barely before I did! Story of my life, it seems, but leads are already coming out of the woodwork and I have the former boss among those networking for me.)
I'm sorry to hear about your job cut, but I'm delighted that you've got a great network and a lot of leads. I burn bridges (or blow them up in considering what happened the last time I did it) when I take off, so I'm in a different boat. I hate to say it but I'm thinking I may just fib on my cover letters next time around and say I failed at my business and went back to school when the 100% truth is that I failed to pursue several business ideas I started, traveled for quite some time, and THEN went back to school lol. Yeah, there's some sketchy ethics in there. I don't feel good about it but tuition is ridiculous. Let us know how you fare!
