does anyone know any good elementary school in Fresno Ca that are great with children that have ADHD. My son was recently diagnosed and we don’t think his current school has the support he needs.

Fresno Ca ADHD Schools?

Welcome! Most public school can assist your child if he has a 504 plan or IEP (Individual Educational Plan). This is like a map for your child's need to help him become successful. While I do not know the best school, usually there are not public schools for children with ADHD. If you chose a private school ( only for children woth ADHD) then all of the children at that school with have ADHD. In a public school there is an integration of children with all kinds of needs including children who don't have any extra needs.
Hope you find what works best for your child.
He is on a 504 plan. Hes very smart but seems lately that he is better in a one on one setting then a classroom. I’m thinking he might need to be on IEP more then a 504
There is a lot to learn about educational plans and public schools. One thing to keep in mind is a smaller setting means he needs more intervention/support. It would be best to figure out what tools he needs to be in a "regular classroom" this is the best place for him to learn all the grade standards. There are lots of thing that can help with learning in the classroom that could be included in a plan.
If he already has a 504 plan, best to have a meeting with his teacher and the 504 plan coordinator and see what is working and maybe what needs to be added to make it better.
You have the right to as for an assessment for special education services, you must put this is writing and list the areas you feel he needs an assessment in.
Hope you find the support your son needs.
We did get him on a 504’plan however the school is so slow and putting stuff in place to help him. Recently we have had to have a behavioral meeting with the school his behavioral is getting worst he runs from class room etc it took this to go on for them now to give him a new routine finally in school. So now we are currently trying this new routine to see how that goes for him. We still think the school lacks staff to help him. It’s been a constant battle.
