Guanfacine Er doses for most children

Hi after almost 4 weeks of a split dose of 1 mg at 7:00 am and 1 mg at 5:00 pm it seems to be wearing off and not working Ugh I hate going up but is this a low dose She is 7 ADHD just started noticing over the past two days ugh

Just curious, why did your doctor tell you to split the dose if it’s extended release? Our son is 8 and a pretty big kid and takes 2mg guanfacine ER once daily (though that’s been his dose a couple years).

Everybody processes meds at different speeds. I am confused about ER being more than once a day, but kiddos body could just burn through the med quickly. I would up the dose if possible. However, keep an eye on light headedness and dizziness. My kid feinted on Guanfacein because it’s a med to lower blood pressure.

Hi This medicine wears off on her even tho it is 24 hour release It was wearing off at 3:30 am and she was wide awake So he split 1 mg at 7:30 and 1 mg at 5:30pm and it stopped the early awakenings However after 4 weeks of this I noticed in the past two days it's like she is not on anything

I'm surprised by the split dose as well if it is ER. 2mg is not a high dose. Max dose is typically 4mg.

it was split up because the 2mg was wearing off at 3am each morning So it was split and that stoppped the early morning wake up however now I am seeing less of an effect thru day now after close to 4 weeks

Er is suppose to be 24 hr dose but my girl is metabolizing it and it wears off Doesn't cover for 24 jours

Have you tried a full dose am and full dose pm?

yes did the 2 mg in morning together it wore off at 3am every morning She woke up wide awake and getting to roll that is why it was split and it worked She didn't wake up at 3am It provided coverage But after 4 good weeks she has become more symptomatic again thru the day We are probably not at the right dose yet Ugh
