my son is now 12 and has tics since his 8 years old and from very beginning he will shake head or shoulders but when he grow up seems all these are gone. But still we still notice on his breathing he seems to have a recurring tics to contract his rib so that he push the air out without stopping for the whole day until he sleep and I really feel he may not be very comfortable on it.
Can any one here know what type of tics he had? I really want to study more and find more way to help him to reduce this.
Really appreciate all of your help.

I didn’t know there were different types. My daughter started having them when she got on a stimulant med. my bonus kid also had tics and they have mostly gone over time. Anxiety meds may help. I notice it’s worse when stressed.
There are motor tics and vocal tics. Motor tics are movement tics like jumping , clapping basically any sort of repeated movement. Vocal tics are sounds so squeaking, saying words repeatedly...Most tics go away over a years time, but if it lasts more than a year then you might want to consider Tourette's syndrome. My daughter was diagnosed with this a couple years ago. She was diagnosed with ADHD later, and the stimulant meds make her tics worse. Hope that helps.
