there is definitely scientific information showing that caffeine does help ADHD. We give our son a little bit of coffee with milk and sugar in the morning but you have to watch if they’re taking stimulants also because it can be too much sometimes.
I've been a regular coffee drinker since I was 12. (I'm now almost 49, but didn't get my ADHD diagnosis until I was 45.)
Until I started taking ADHD medication, caffeine was the only thing that seemed to help me. For many years, I didn't realize that I was self-medicating with caffeine, but it explains why I needed it so much in order to function. It only helped a fraction as much as ADHD meds have done for me, though.
I know that there's some research that indicates that caffeine can help with ADHD.
Regardless of the research, there are many, many testimonials of the benefit that caffeine has for many of us.
One very notable testimonial comes from Dr. Edward Hallowell, an ADHD expert who also has ADHD...he has said before that none of the ADHD medications work for him, but caffeine does!
