Hello to all,

Thanks in advance to all of you. My question is :

1. Is the generic Concerta is as effective as the brand name one?

2. Do you see any changes , good or bad in your child after taking it ?

We have seen no difference between brand name and generic concerta. We have seen changes when taking the medication. Very significant changes. It takes the edge off the hyperactivity and allows him to be more in control of himself (rather than ADHD being in control) and he says it significantly improves his ability to focus and listen at school.

Not all generics are created equally. I have had the doctor write a no-sub on my prescription, which allows my medical insurance to cover for the name brand. The whole thing about concerta is it's delivery mechanism. At the end of the day it's ritalin, but with a fancy release system. Many generics don't share the mechanism and really don't have the same dosage over time profile.

In other words, it's best if, before accepting a generic, see how it operates and if it has comparable efficacy. Sometimes pharmacists can help track down that information.
