Therapeutic Day Recommendation -

Curious as to people's experience with Therapeutic Day schools as an alternative to traditional school. This is being recommended for my 8 year old son. Can't believe it's come to this but here we are... Anyways, curious as to if anyone else has transitioned a child from traditional to therapeutic and how that went and how its working out. Likes/dislikes. Thank you.

We've recently changed over to a therapeutic school and it has been life changing. The 1st week was a nightmare but the structure and the small environment has done wonders in such a short time. The best part is that he doesn't hate it and we're not getting daily phone calls from inconsistent admin. anymore. We hired an advocate to help us and I'm not sure what the rules/laws are in your town/state but you don't have to settle for the program that the school recommends.

Both of my kids attended a therapeutic school for part of their elementary school education. Positively life changing for our whole family!

It was recommended to us when their public schools were not working out anymore.

How do you find therapeutic day schools?

child psychiatrist and therapists may know of some as they may have patients who attend. If you work with an OT or speech therapist they may know from internships and colleagues working at them.

Google search using key words in your county and nearby counties, it may not be a convenient commute.

once you find one, if it’s not the right fit, they can also tell you what other schools are nearby.
