Good afternoon,
I hope this email finds you well and in good health during these times. I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education and I am conducting a capstone research project on the experience of having ADHD in a school setting. I am reaching out to inquire if you would be willing to distribute a survey to your teachers, parents and caseload managers of students with ADHD as well as the students themselves on my behalf. In order to maintain family and student privacy I suggest sending surveys to ALL students and families at your school with instructions to only fill out if they are or have a child with ADHD. The topic of ADHD has been studied by many different angles, but most of these are concerning what affects student achievement. What is often neglected is how ADHD is perceived. How students perceive their own disability, how parents perceive their child's disability, how teachers perceive their student's disability etc. and how this affects the overall experience of having ADHD as a student. I will be doing research to fill in the gap of this lack of research and then juxtaposing my findings to see how these perceptions may differ across different demographics/ communities. My research will provide much needed insight into how the key figures surrounding a student's education shape the student's experience and perception of themselves and what can be done to make this experience as fruitful and empowering as possible. The surveys would be kept completely anonymous and would not take very long. Your help would be a huge support for me conducting my research and would be appreciated greatly. If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer questions via email.
