ritalin 20 la and pulling eyelashes out?

My 4th grader is on 20 la of Ritalin and is pulling out his eye lashes and eye brows.

I asked him when this started and he said second grade. But you always had eye hair I don't understand. He said yes but all this time in school ( never at home) I have pulling at it because I don't know what to do with my hands. It never came out in chunks but now it is. I gave him slime, silly putty, ( he doesn't want to color) and it isn't enough. I have him put Vaseline on each morning. He is still not successful to stop pulling. I don't know if it is a habit or deeper issue ( I asked him if it feels good or if he is worried about something. He says it feels good. I am not worried. I don't know what to do.

I strongly encourage you to have him see a thearpist about this. They can assess if there are more issues as to why he is doing this. Our child psychiatrist encouraged us to also give Guanfacine medication. When he is only taking Ritalin, which is great at stopping impulsive behavior there are many other issues that need to be addressed.

Good luck..
