Hello. My ds 10 is on extended release meds in capsule form to cover the school day. He is on 30mg of medi.kinet. No issues. For homework he has 10mg of a quick release tablet typically on at weekends so he has not had the capsules and it is only for long homework. When on the quick release by the way he describes t they seem to cause some anxiety symptons. My question is for the same meds just in extended and quick release forms has anyone seen a different reaction or side effects?

Adhd inattentive quick release and extended release meds.
Our son takes an extended release as he walks out thr door in the morning and it lasts until around 3:30-4pm and we give a booster dose of short acting same medication burns weaker dose. I have noticed even though it is in the same dose it does not help as much. His symptoms are much less but he still is goofy and more immature. Strange that it is the same medication but doesn't work as well. He takes the same medication 7 days a week.
I would recommend talking to his doctor about his experience.
Take care,
For us, the quick release causes too much of a "crash", causing anxiety, hostility, etc. The long acting meds have a more gradual "decline" in activity. It was helpful for us to keep a behavior diary. We noticed that the meltdowns were occuring within the same time range.
thanks both. i am going to try dropping the quick release to 5mg rather than 10mg and see if a difference. The school says he is doing great and he doesnt report any anxiety type feelings on those. if the drop doesnt help will speak to the dr.
