Genesight testing but its not always the most accurate thing to go off of. My son shows he cant take any stimulants... So we just have him on the lowest dose of Ritalin and its regular release not extended. He has been on that since he was 11 now he is 14 doing well. But still short tempered.
We researched it and found that there are basically just two classes of ADHD drugs so genetic testing isn’t helpful in determining which drugs work and which don’t.
Check with a psychiatrist or even your pediatrician for suggestions. We had to go to a specialized lab to get the testing done. It has been accurate for us. Or, try Googling your area. I cannot find the specific name of the test, even when looking at the results directly, but searching for ADHD Genetic Molecular testing or something may help. I don't know if being in Australia is different. We are in the midwest and still had to drive a couple of hours to get to the lab that will run this test. Insurance did not cover any of this testing either and it was expensive.
Genetic testing is still in the early stages and not always reliable, though some members here have had success with it. Here's an article from Understood.org, which is one of my favorite websites for learning about ADHD.
