A lot of people have asked about genectic testing for ADHD. Here's page 2 and link to rest of report is below. no patient data, I had this done for my daughter...well, the doctor did it, and I really wasn't clear on purpose or cost. Anyway, it was about $600, which insurance covered $300. It was done in 2015, so things may have changed. It answered some questions for me and confirmed my daughter was on right meds. I thought the COMT enzyme factor is interesting. Lots about the over activity of this dopamine killer on internet. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing this information. Can you provide a link to the company that did this for you and how information on how you obtained it? It does seem like it would be useful....

Thanks very much.

It was Genomind, I think name on bottom of report. A doctor ordered it, so not sure you can do on your own?? If a doctor does order it, you may be able to get insurance to pay for some. Not sure.

Is this test scientifically conforming ADHD? Does it measure dopamine level? What does it proof? Will it reassure me that I am doing the right thing to medicate my son ?

Assume you meant 'confirm' ADHD. I'm not a doctor, or geneticist just a mom with a child who has behaviors that are out of sync with kids her age...the medical world had decided to call it ADHD. For me, this report is a piece of the puzzle. I also had her tested over an 8 hour period with a battery of tests that came with a 15 page report. Personally, the in-person testing was great and gave me insight to how her mind works, but this test told me 'why' the dopamine is being suppressed. If you read the report you can see what it does and does not tell you. It doesn't diagnose anything, but does tell you exactly what meds will/will not help with what's going on at a genome level. Not sure what else to say here. Good luck

My daughter has a neuro-psych test scheduled for November, and I've been trying to decide if it's a good thing. Thank you for sharing that you got value from it.

I did not regret spending a ton of money outside of the school system on my son’s neuropsych Test. It gave me an unbiased view of my 7 year’s abilities and deficits.

Thank you for sharing with us!

My dr. just recommended testing for me, and I was really unsure about it. This provides some good insight into what kind of results I might find.
