Does weekend medication help with appetite? My son currently on elvanse 30mg and the last couple of months he doesn’t want to eat anything ☹️

Unless a doctor gives you the advice, I would not recommend going off medication. With our son, he is just a picky eater and will say he is not hungry.

Find out what are his favoriate foods are and bulk up on them, ask him to pick what he wants to eat. Most kids loves milk shakes...

We tell him that his medication doesn't make him hungry so he still has to eat as much at each meal including protein.

When a child is off medication it makes it very hard for them to control their impulses and to focus.

I recommend feeding him extra protein in all meals so his weight will maintain as he grows.

Talk with your doctor to see if it is ok to withhold meds on weekends. Some medications should not be interrupted or stopped abruptly.
