A very small number of teens and young adults who first begin the stimulant methylphenidate can experience a psychotic event, an uncommon side effect where they might see or hear something that is not there. Stopping the medication will make the side effect go away.

Researchers are finding that these side effects may have a lower chance of happening than previously thought. They hope to reassure parents and doctors that the possibility of these side effects is low.

Read "Research Finds Lower Risk of Uncommon Side Effect Than Previously Thought" at bit.ly/nrclowerrisk for more information what they've learned.

Did your teen experience an uncommon side effect when starting medication? How did you family address it?
