There is a newer medication called Mydayis. It is suppose to last up to 16 hours. Anyone know My son 13 year old just diagnosed with inattentive type one year ago. I know everyone is different and he is doing well on a ER - extended release in the morning then a short acting after school for homework and sports. My son talked to dr about wanting something that would last longer , that he said he Feels himself loosing his focus in his last class of the day. What I have researched is that Mydayis has three release “ times 1 -morning is quick to begin working ( no waiting for 1 hour fir it to kick in) 2 - few hour later it is like the ER then 3 - later like a short acting
Anyone have tried this or know more

One suggestion is try to keep his core academic classes in the am to avoid this issue, even if you don’t change medication. That way if he has PE in the afternoon it is no big deal that he is less focused.
Our insurance will not pay for NEW drugs. They have to be our a while. Some NEW medications can cost more than 5-10 thousand dollars a year and they don’t want to pay that. I know ridiculous.
My son had been on Daytrana which is a patch (all day release)and it worked great for him for a few years. Then he said sometimes he needed a booster about 3 in the afternoon, but not always. We tried Mydasis or however you spell it. He felt like he was more tired from it though so we did stop using it. If you do get it, make sure you look at their website for coupons or ask the pharmacist to look for coupons (smaller pharmacies are much better for this). I only had to pay $10 or 25 I forget which it was but much less expensive than insurance along. Good luck. (My son in almost 16 and has started to just take ritalin in the morning) There is hope!
Hi. I recently learned of this medicine from a post on this forum. We recently asked the doctor about it and she advised she hasn’t had any luck with other patients trying it but was willing to test with my son. He’s also 13 and has to take several short acting doses of Focalin because he’s a high metabolizer. XR drugs normally don’t last him long enough. The doctor said mydayis is from the same class as Adderall so she wanted to test switching my son to that first. My son has been on Focalin since he was 8 and it was the only med that controlled both impulse control and helped him focus but as he aged I noticed his grades were slipping even with studying. Plus he hated how he had to see the nurse at school twice a day for meds. We tested switching him to Adderall XR with a short acting dose in the morning and another short acting dose at noon and so far so good. Grades have improved to A’s and Hugh B’s and he’s taking less meds only seeing the nurse once a day. As this builds up in his system, we will be testing mydayis probably over Spring Break to see how it works. I’m interested in hearing what others have to say and if anyone has had success. It would be a dream to just have to administer 1 pill a day and my son would be estactic!
