I have a 13 year old son who takes Vyvanse. Hes been taking Vyvanse since 3rd grade. Good kid,not alot of issues. Forgetful, slow doing everything, poor social skills. Good student, listens at home and a good athlete.
When my son was diagnosed I didnt want to give him meds, I thought I could fix him(lol)
Bad idea, so he begin taking meds but only on days he had school. As he got older he had a football game with some really bad sportsmanship afterwards so his medication days expanded to game days(sat or sun) He plays football, wrestling, basketball and track. So if my son has school or a planned large social event he takes his Vyvanse.
Holidays,spring/summer break,sat or sun w/no game = no medication.
My son loves this! He calls them his "free days" I LOVE watching him go back for seconds of whatever we eat! In the summer he always gains 5-7lbs that he needed. My son is fully aware that in a world of clones he needs his Vyvanse to blend in but I enjoy letting him be his overly annoying self in small samples.
Anyone else do this? My son is definitely a trip but not as extreme as other situations I have read so idk
