Caffeine for child

Has anyone tried caffeine in the form of tea or coffee instead of medication?

This is actually the oldest treatment for hyperactivity in children and was used in a clinical setting. We gave tea to our kids as an alternative when they were 3. After we had exhausted every non-prescription option (caffeine may be natural, but it is still a drug) we did put our kids on meds which, because it is monitored regularly, has been the difference of night and day.

My sister gave it to her daughter and had good results- she has adhd.

I have not tried it on a regular basis but I have tried it a couple time to see if it would work and it did seem to help
