My son is 12 yrs old and was diagnosed with ADHD in 2011. He takes meds but seems to be floundering in school. He does get help at school but I find that his attitude towards school is extremely negative. He has no interest in it. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can change this?

First of all, if your son does not have at 504 Plan (at least) or an IEP, I would consider putting one in place. School will just continue to become more challenging for your son and some sort of assistance can help. In my opinion, many ADHD boys are not interested in school because they are often in trouble with teachers, parents, etc for not turning in homework, not paying attention, losing papers, being late to class.....the list goes on and on. It has nothing to do with their actual intelligence, but is still enough of a drag to make school not a fun place to be! I would try and make school as pleasant as possible for you son. This does not mean doing his work, but it does mean to not punish harshly and to look at the big picture: you want him to finish high school and go on to college.
My 11 year old has an iep school is so hard for him. He does not like school
Seems to be a common problem with ADHD kids at this age. My grandson is on intuniv but we recently added Wellbutrin. He just doesn't seem to care about anything but the Wellbutrin does seem to be helping.
His psychiatrist said the teen years are awful with hormones, sudden growth spurts, bullying and everything else that goes on with that age
