I saw the gynae last week who suspects the pain I’m having is caused by adenomyosis and not fibroids. I had an ablation at the end of February last year and was ok until about 3 months ago. The pain was excruciating when my period was due. To confirm the doctor’s diagnosis I’m having Prostrap injections for 3 months, the first I had last week. So far I’ve continued to have pains and noticed today I’m bleeding. PMT symptoms and my husband is getting the brunt of it. I’ve read some women say that it takes until the second injections to see further effects. If the doctor’s diagnosis is correct he will give me a hysterectomy. Has anyone else been through the same thing?

Suspected Adenomyosis
I was scared to get the injections and it can make it worse long term. Have you tried Mirena, my gynecologist said it helps control the bleeding. I used it in the past, unfortunately after three months I kept getting cysts and had to have it removed. That doesn't mean it will happen to you. But, I didn't want to add to the pain I was already in. They say adenomyosis ends once your in menopause. It depends on how bad you're symptoms are and are you welling to wait it out. I had my hysterectomy over three months ago. If you do decide to have it done, keep you ovaries and be sure to do your Kegels to keep your pelvic floor strong for your bladder's sake to prevent prolapse in the future.
Hello
I have tried the coil, I had it before the ablation. It worked for a few months then I went back to the doctor as the symptoms returned. Unfortunately even though I’m 48 years old I’ve no symptoms of going through the menopause and can’t cope with the pain until I do. My ovaries are ok so planning on keeping them. Does having your cervix removed make any difference apart from stopping you from getting cervical cancer? Can you still tense your muscles and is this where the exercises come in?
It shouldn't unless it runs in your family. I have talked to several family and friends and haven't had it done because of cancer. Your muscles get weak when your uterus is gone. Even if you still keep your cervix, prolapse can still happen so Kegels are important.
Sorry to jump in ladies I just wanted to add that post hysterectomy (I had my cervix removed I had Adenomyosis and Endometriosis) I actually feel 5 months in and since very early on that I have way more bladder control. I started my keogals early on and once a week I do a class for pelvic floor and a few classes in I feel like I have good control over my muscles and can really engage my abdomen etc during exercise. I'm young'ish and newly'ish married and worried my Cervix going woukd affect my sex life and it has..FOR THE BETTER...no painful bumping off of somethibg sore up inside me (cervix) no pain or bleeding during intercourse and still the same great intensity during orgasm. Sorry if it's tmi but lots of women are still sexually active and its important to know you can have, in my case a less painful and more enjoyable sex life.
Ps..how can these men tell Ademyosis causes pain? I know the endometriosis does. I know the Adenomyosis caused me to have a weak bladder and I had become more susceptible to leaking in certain situations and now that is gone. I'm surprised some days that I've been out for hours and have not been looking for a bathroom to tinkle!
Good luck with the hysterectomy if it should go ahead. I was given no info on how Adeno is
Supposed to cause pain and I'm interested to know what part it played in my hell half of a life I was leading prior to the big eviction!
Best wishes,
Helly.
