ART TET Testosterone and the Prostate; the Myth

Amazing; this is a five year old podcast that talks about testosterone and the prostate. It also addresses what it calls; “The myth,” that testosterone is counter indicated for prostate cancer patients, both on active surveillance or in recovery. I continue to be amazed that this information has been out years before I was treated with Lupron depot. I hired doctors that were in-trusted with my care, and none of this information was ever told to me. I may have been chemically castrated by 21 months use of Lupron, for reasons which appear are not based on good practices.

I hope that this information can reach a wider audience and that men coming along in their treatment protocols will challenge their doctors and not give up their testosterone and the quality of life it gives in the pursuit of curing their cancer. It appears that you can have both.

Min 1:44; advantages and disadvantages of testosterone treatment (TrT) during active surveillance

Min 3:46; flare in PSA after TrT . Beneficial side effect of treatment?!?! See

Min 17:43 as well. Finding latent cancer early and treating it more effectively.

Min 5:58; risk that testosterone will convert occult cancer into an active form. Traditional concern.

Min 7:34; time has come to discard traditional concerns about TrT for prostate cancer patients.

Min 9:53; the basis for the SOC that states TrT he’s like “throwing gasoline on the fire.” It’s based on totally flawed science. All of our care has been based on the results from one patient more than half a century ago.

Min 13:01; incidence of prostate cancer per hundred thousand vs TET levels is inversely correlated with age. The lower testosterone, the older, the person, the greater the incidence of prostate cancer. Testosterone in this sense is protective.

Min 14:25; low TET increases the risk of prostate cancer. It also is associated with more aggressive types of cancer.

Min 16:20; when should TRT start for men that have had prostatectomy‘s and are hypogonadal?  Should you wait one or two years to monitor the PSA?

Min 17:12; summary. TrT is safe for men with prostate cancer, in active surveillance or that are cured via RP or RT. Medical monitoring, including establishment of baselines (TET , PSA, XBC, other) is needed.

Min 18:18; the myth of testosterone, prostate cancer and replacement therapy must be replaced with new therapies.

Good news. Why then is there not really much more money spent to resolve this and make it SOC? Seems like follow the money issues !
