So if you've read any of my previous posts, you will know that I have severe lower back and nerve pain down my leg. I have had all the tests under the sun which come back inconclusive!!

Today I went to the Physio and she informed me... Much to my surprise that I didn't already know but I was on the waiting list for the pain management clinic ( I live on the Isle of Man and there's only one consultant so as you can imagine, waiting lists are high).

In the meantime, she has got me on a strict exercise plan to get to the gym 3 times a week and get on the bike for 5 mins at a time. Also I have to walk for 10 mins a day ( I am on crutches ) ,upper body weights, swimming when I can and the exercises she has given me!! I know the length of times aren't long but my pain tolerance level is pretty poor at the moment. Pain and lack of sleep being the main problems.

Just wondered how people cope with their pain when exercising gently as I have no idea how I am going to manage all this!

Thanks for reading

L x (extremely tired and frustrated)

Your physio probably knows what kind of exercise is good for you. Only you can know when discomfort turns into the kind of pain that is a warning . when I exercised in the past I always new when the" pushing it" pain turned to dangerous. Sadly I didn't always listen.

Pay attention as you exercise. I'd say no headphones, you need to be aware. Feel when it's just underused muscles squeaking. Feel when it's a stretch that feels good as well as hurting a bit. Its a great feeling when you get it right. Good luck
