Of all those with a returning Acoustic Neuroma, did anyone have symptoms or were they found on an MRI?
Hi, Ive just found out via MRI that my AN appears to be growing again! I havent had any further symptoms! I first had surgery 9 yrs ago and apart from SSD have only had a few slight balance issues since then! I have MRI sacns every 2 yrs as I had a small sliver left behind to preserve my facial nerve! Are u experiencing further symptoms? If so u need to request an MRI if only to put your mind at rest...........Linzi
At first I had some discomfort around my incision and behind my ear..Now I have some balance problems which I've had off and on since my surgery especially in the dark. They told me, I would probably have this as when walking in the dark, you don't have anything to focus on and so you would have some balance problems, and I did.. Now if I turn to fast when walking, I sometimes catch myself off balance or feel that I'm leaning toward one side more. I had my MRI yesterday and should know by next week if everything is ok...I'll post more next week. Thanks for giving me the support. If you haven't been through this kind of surgery, most don't know what I'm talking about...It is a relief to be able to talk to someone else that knows what I'm going through...Thanks again. Gloria
My balance is still not that good after 25 years post surgery. I have to be touching something solid or leaning against it to put my trousers or shoes on. Just walking isn't too bad, probably if I left a line where I'd been you would see it wandered a bit where the ground varies in flatness. Hope all goes well for you. Keith
Well, another three years have passed and I'm 79 next week. Balance problems are a bit worse but have to take my age into account. Pestered the GP for an MRI which showed nothing apparently. If I turn quick I tend to tip over and have to touch something to steady myself if theres something nearby, otherwise have to stick my arms out to regain posture. Ho hum!
