Do you find your hearing aid helpful?

Many Single Sided Deaf people have been fitted with hearing aids but a great number do not find them particularly helpful. What are your views?

I have been using a CrossAid since Dec 2011 and found it helpful with awareness of someone entering the room, hearing people on my deaf side when walking/driving and also with balance. There is minimal background noise, but I see this as a positive noise which helps to mask the tinnitus by providing real sound. Give it a go, I refer to it as my little friend. Just trying out the wireless version and so far that seems even better, but the batteries don't seem to last for very long, especially in the microphone side.

Hi I was fitted with a wireless cross aid too. From having great hearing to then have lost it was a big issuefor me so i find the hearing aid a great asset. I have had it a few months so still getting used to it, but would recommend everyone gives it a try. You can't see them, they are tiny and I find I am more 'included' now. Sometimes its even a little loud !

ps i find the batteries last from 7 days to 3 days depending where I am and what I listening to, and its really easy to change the batteries and clean them.
