Don't worry about that. The screw on headframe is only used for Gamma Knife. If you are that scared of injections you simply need to seek treatment by Cyber knife or Linac which use different location methods without screws! Take a look at the following web-site for more information. The fourth picture from the left is me in the dental mold so I can answer any other questions you have on this. anworld.com/radiation/

I know it may sound easy to say, but the frame fitting and any small injections associated is a very simple painless procedure, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. You could talk to them about talking a small dose of relaxant, (think it was something like diazepan) beforehand if necessary. It will just take the edge off, good luck, it will be ok.

They don't need to sedate you totally, you need to be awake. All you need is a set of local anesthetic injections where the frame is screwed on; no big deal. There is less pain than a dental novacane injection and once numb you will feel nothing.

Unfortunately after my injections they needed to move the frame and couldn't wait for another set of injections so I turned green as they reset the frame. I doubt that this will happen to you.
