I just tend to usually stay awakeep until I tire myself out, it's the easiest way to deal with

terrible sleeping pattern for years ? whether to do with tinnitus or not. I watch all the criminal programmes on TV after 4am and many before. I usually awake after 1=2 hours sleep

That's frustrating....

Maybe look at patient.co.uk (Sleep Hygiene....an awful term, but worth a look). Can get plenty enough rest without being asleep, if we avoid the frustration. Try listening to something quiet on the radio (Radio 4?) Or an audio-storybook. Very good if the tinnitus is problematic. Look at Mindfulness. I'd suggest Mindfulness for Beginners by Jon Kabat-Zinn....and not to start by trying meditation unless you're sure it's your thing, especially if you're feeling agitated and frustrated.

If the problem is lying awake for more than half an hour when you go to bed, try speaking to your GP about a one-off short course of night sedation (not for regular or prolonged use, please). If it's sleep disruption and early morning waking, an antidepressant may help.

Try to keep getting up at a reasonable time, eat regularly, and some exercise during the day even if it's just a walk....and a good dose of daylight to regulate the body clock. And are you taking the recommended vitamin D supplement?

Not what you're looking for?
