While on warfarin

Just wanting to know if you have too reduce your warfarin slowly or can you just go off it? My dr got a scan done on the leg where I had the DVTs and they have all gone, I've been on warfarin for 6 months and she said I can go off it next week! What are the side effects of going off it straight away? I'm on 10mg a day!

Doctors have informed me that I will not throw another clot as long as I am in range with my INR. Ten years on coumadin after DVT. Did throw a superficial (NOT DVT) in the other leg BUT, my INR was below the window. I've learned the critical issue is maintaining my INR to be in the window.

yes, it is possible. Mostly happens when INR is below range for a period of time but some people do get another clot even of their INR is in range and the consultant sometimes makes the decision to increase the range. A clot whilst on warfarin (with INR in range) may also lead to being on warfarin for life. Why did you have the first DVT?

I've had another scan and it's showed I don't have another DVT! So thank god there's no more! And I had a scan on leg where I had the first DVTs and they have gone too, so dr says I can go off warfarin in a couple of weeks! The dr never found out why I got the DVTs in the first place! But Thankyou for your reply!
