Hi I'm James and i am 16. A few weeks ago i found out i had one big blood clot from my stomach down both of my legs that stops at my knees. I have no idea whether i should keep pushing myself to exercise and stretch, because i have to start my A levels in a few days, or whether i should just rest.

Hi James, sorry to hear about your dilemma. Your "A" levels are too important to ignore but if the DVT is as extensive as you fear then that is very serious too. I think that this is too important to get wrong but is certainly one to direct to your consultant or at least your GP who will have more detailed knowledge of the severity of the DVT. All the best

Ditto with PBirts advice. A levels are important, but so is your health. Get official advice from gp in the first instance, or email your consultants secretary with attention to doctor. Take the second step of action(the first being contacting forum)today, even if it is a plan to do it tomorrow. Good luck.

A levels and a treatment for a DVT are not mutually exclusive but if you want to prioritise then get anticoagulent therapy for the DVT first and if you haven't already do so today, these things can be fatal. I wonder how you know where your clots have been without medical help.

You have not mentioned having treatment but if you have consulted your GP then he would be negligent not to get treatment started immediately with such as Heparin injections and something like Warfarin etc.
