Hi Gail

I know when my hair needs a trim my HA start to make a rustling sound as the wind is blowing my hair about, try putting clips in your hair above your aids and see if that makes a difference, failing that a visit to the clinic might be an idea.

If your hair is brushing across the case of the hearing aid you will hear it, should be easy to determine by timing it back or someway getting if off. Some hearing aids are better than others in dealing with unwanted sounds. Since you are new, you may notice excessive wind noise on a windy day, again some hearing aids have circuitry built in to help minimize these unwanted sounds. There's a period of adjustment but I think they are a big help. I've been wearing mine for over 2 years and still occasionally hear sounds that I am not used to hearing, change in my pocket and keys are a good example.

Thanks for your reply will have a go at trying to get my hair away from it was just so nice to hear the birds again, the guy did tell me will take a while to get use to it and only use it for a few hrs a day as my ear is badly infected again he said if it was left into long would make ear sweat and itch causing more problems then i already have lol. He to had T and said for most people HA helps sure hope he is right as not had any peace in nearly a year. Have a good day

Yay Gail, glad to hear you finally got your HA. I can't really help with the rustling sound as I haven't got a moulded one for my ear but I hope it settles down when your ear infection goes. Meanwhile enjoy the birds singing and all the other little sounds you'd forgotten you didn't hear any more.

My T hasn't settled down at all got my pre op for my jaw 19th June so with a bit luck wont be long till they sort that out got a 50 50 chance of it helping or making it worse lol gotta go for it. Hope you have a good weekend.

Yay Gail, I'm so happy you had a brilliant holiday. It kind of gives you a little bit of oomph to continue with your struggle! I'm still plodding along like we all do and have to! I'm still knocking back the supplement drinks and have kicked the probability of a feeding tube into touch, hopefully for a few more years. I'm sorry your T hasn't got any better, whatever happens you can learn to accept it and learn to live with it. Personally I'm not one for pinning my hopes on something that may or may not ever happen ie 'habituation' I deal with it on a day to day basis the best way I can!

Good luck with your pre op, I'd love to see the day when a surgeon or a Dr. tells me the odds are 60 40 in my favour, I'm not holding my breath lol. Any operation is a massive worry, call me pessimistic but I go into them having ruminated the best possible outcome to the worst and everything inbetween, that way I think I've got all angles covered lol.

You take care and let us know how you're doing. In the face of adversity fight on!

Hi Gail, nice to read that you enjoyed your holiday. I took a while to get used to my hearing aids - I have had them now for 2 years. I do think that the correction to my slight hearing loss helps to minimise the tinnitus, but sometimes I wonder whether the masker on the other ear irritates it! We are all so different and it is all about trial and error and what works for each of us. I am still trying to understand fully what calms and aggravates my T. Angela xx

Hi Gail, hope you're getting used to the aid - I think if you have short hair that rests on the aid the rustle would be heard more than with my hair, which is in a bob. When I rub my hair on the aid, I hear that rustle. How am I doing? It has been 2 years 5 months and my T is either very quiet or silent for most of the day. I went to the hairdresser yesterday and any T was completely masked by the surrounding activity. When I left the hairdressers (I am so vain that I take my aids out before I go in and usually go into a quiet shop Win and it was still silent! That is progress. The early stages of my T were loud and so very painful that I didn't ever envisage any improvement - but very slowly it has happened. If I manage my life properly I can control the beast. Sad that my life has changed, but I am a pragmatic person and just get on with the changes.

Keep calm Gail, it will get better. ps nice you had a good holiday. If the weather looks to improve next week, my bloke says he is taking me to Devon. That's ok, I have told him that I don't want to go abroad as the hassle stresses me and thus my T re-appears. Distraction and calmness are what works for me. Angela xx

Hi Angela, thanks for reply so glad you are doing so well with you T mine hasn't changed from the first day i started to hear it but what the hell its there and all the worrying in the world wont stop it, dont get me wrong some days i could just put my head in the gas oven lol.. Its doesn't bother me any 1 seeing my HA thats why i had my hair cut short so it wouldn't annoy it but looks like i was wrong they have told me it is my hair causing the problem, Cant say i have noticed a change with my T with them but its so nice to hear the birds again. Maybe after jaw op things might settle down pre assessment 19th so with a bit luck will be done with in the week lol then again might not be .I was refereed back to ent when he took impression for HA am still waiting been 8 weeks on monday and im not even on the list lol its a joke. But keep saying to my self always some 1 worse off then me. My ssiter goes to Devon twice a year she loves it there always brings me a box biscuits with clotted cream yummy trouble is you only get about 8 in the box and once you start them gotta finish the box lol. Cant wait to go back away was so beautiful made a lot new friends the ones that keep in touch every day. Sure hope you manage to get away will do you the world of good xx

I had aids on a free week long trial. It was my hair. Ad a man this wasn't a difficult decision. That solved that. However it fired up my T to horrible levels at times.
