Post following my first consultation
I've never had
surgery
or been to hospital myself before so it's all a bit daunting! How did people find the
surgery
? Anything I should know before making the decision to move forward with this? Thank you all x

On-X aortic heart valve thumping noise.
I chose On-X because I didn't want valve failure and have to have another
surgery
. However, with the thumping sound and a sometimes rapid heart beat, I with I'd gone with the bio valve. So my question is: does the On-X mechanical valve get more quiet over time? I had my
surgery
in June, 2022.

update on cervical stenosis
Without saying it in so many words, the consensus was that the
surgery
couldn’t guarantee my currently fit husband a better quality of life, in view of the possible high risks involved with the
surgery
and in fact they couldn’t guarantee the
surgery
to be a success.

post surgery stitches
Hi all 👋 I’m about 4 weeks post op from my diagnostic laparoscopy and recovery seems to be going well so far but my stitches seem to be taking ages to dissolve! I have the dissolvable stitches which apparently should have gone in a couple weeks but they are holding strong and don’t want to come away

Laparoscopy tomorrow!
Does anyone have any last minute tips or tricks for pre and post
surgery
? And can anyone explain a little bit more about what happens when you get to the hospital and the process after that? I am new to all of this, it’s my first
surgery
and the nerves are definitely kicking in now!

musician - hearing loss after surgery
Hi, I am a 49 year old musician and I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma in December 2023 and had to have
surgery
a few weeks later due to the size of the tumour and how ill I was. Since then I have been in recovery trying to get back all my functions (balance, stamina etc).

Needle size for Surgery injections?
Yesterday I had my 3 monthly B12 jab and was rather taken aback to be injected in the shoulder with a 21G 1 1/2 “needle which was quite painful unlike when I self inject with 25G x 1” needle. I don’t remember needles being this large in the past and wondered if this is common practice to draw from ampoule

Minimally Invasive AFib surgery in Tokyo with Dr Ohtsuka
The
surgery
seems to have been a success so far - no AF since the
surgery
. I have had no serious issues, no pain, and no arrhythmia of any kind.

Total Knee Replacement
They have a centre for elective
surgery
and to be honest it's probably the best hospital option available to me. But for anyone whose been through it - how painful is it after
surgery
? And for how long. I've just had a bad day of crippling knee pain and the thought of more pain is hard to bear.

Struggle after transplant
The
surgery
was a bit more complex from an anurysm but went well. Unfortunately he was taken back into
surgery
less than 24 hours later due to a leaking artery which was thankfully treated. He was out of ITU two days later.

Is anyone taking naltrexone?
I had actually ran out a few days before my
surgery
, which he said lucky I had as it stops pain relief from working and said that if I had still been on it, he would have had to cancel my
surgery
. So I went through
surgery
and then as I was waking up in recovery, my God. The pain. It was so bad.

Which option for surgery
My dad has been waiting for open heart
surgery
for a valve replacement for 2 years. He is now faced with a second option, TAVI, rather than open heart. Does anyone have any experience or helpful advice? We are researching for him so that he can make an informed decision.
