David Cassidy, alcoholism or pernicious anemia?
just watched David Cassidy's last interview with Dr Phil. It was extremely sad. I feel very strongly that David Cassidy who died of dementia had pernicious anemia along with his mother and his grandfather. I'm wondering I don't know if I'm allowed to post this link but I would love for people to watch

Anti iFAB tests
Good morning all, I’m wondering about the anti IFAB test. I am aware that only 50% of people with PA test positive for these, but not sure why. Does anyone know if it’s just your luck on the day (I.e. do antibody levels fluctuate significantly, possibly when you are having a gastritis flare - I’ve

Adjusting to new thyroxine dosage
Please could someone help as have recently had my dosage of thyroxine increased after blood tests indicated that it needed to be done. I also managed to have my brand changed back to Goldshield recently. Have been feeling like hell for some time so eventually my GP agreed to have bloods done, thus

B12 ferritin connection??
I finally had my hematologist appt and was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable she was! She is very very concerned about my ferritin level, which was 11 when I went in and after she checked it is now 9. She is sending me to an allergist to try to desensitize me to b12 shots (and find out what

Shout at the Moon
Today I visited my GP to try to get an iron infusion, following a reading of ferritin level of 58. He said it was a bit low. I reminded him of the research I had shown him last time, which states that levels should be over 100 in RLS patients. Sadly he hadn't read it, wanted to be helpful, but just

Side effects from low dose levo
After starting on 50, then 25 and getting bad epigastric pain and palpitations on two different brands, I've now been on 12.5 teva for two weeks and just upped 4 days ago to 25 on advice of endo. The good news is that I'm not getting the epigastric pain and other gastric symptoms are being controlled

Self-injecting B12 1000mcg/2ml ampoules
I've sourced a ready supply of Hydroxocobalamin 1000mcg (brand name Hevert), but instead of coming in (what is for me) the usual 1ml ampoules, they come in the same strength of 1000mcg, but in 2ml injectable ampoules. Do/can/should I inject these as normal into my upper arm, or is this not the form with

Lyrica/Pregabalin side effects
I am currently taking Lyrica/pregabalin with side effects of fatigue, clumsiness and eye twitching. Has anyone had these side effects subside with time? I've been taking it for about a month now. It seems to work fairly well but not sure I can handle the side effects. I'm only on 25mg.

Can Pernicious Anemia cause Parkinson type symptoms?

Following on from my first private blood test in May, I went private and started NDT in June. Moving forward to date, retested this week and the results are disappointing and I still do not feel myself. Results are posted below. Any advice, much appreciated. I have been gluten free, since June and

Iron testing - results O.K.?
Just had my iron retested, having done it incorrectly the first time. This time, I stopped taking iron 48 hrs. before and fasted after midnight. I think the results look as though iron's not my problem. Can some more knowledgeable member let me know if that appears to be correct? Thanks! Results

Thyroid Hormone Use in Mood Disorders: Revisiting the Evidence
Discussion about using thyroid hormones in psychology and psychiatry is all too rare. For that reason, even short papers like this have their own value. It is not that there haven't been papers - but there aren't that many and, by the time we see them, they can appear as if they are historical documents

Levothyroxine and iron prescription
hi everyone, Just been told I’ve got low iron by the dr from my bloods and was looking online that you can’t take levo and iron together and they have to be taken on an empty stomach. Please can someone confirm is this is correct? Thank you for your help.

folate
Hi I’ve been on b12 injections for years now and I have them every 8 weeks, but the past couple of years the Drs have found I’ve had about 3 folate deficiencies, I take 3 months of folic acid and then told that’s all I need and then few months later might have an unrelated blood test and find I’m deficient

Some help with interpreting iron panel please.
My mum is supplementing with iron. Crp hs 0.48 (0-5) Iron 29,9 (5.8-34.5) Tibc 62.7 (45-81) Uibc 30.9 (24.2-70.1) Transferrin 47.5 (20-50) Ferritin 298.6 (13-150) It looks as though she should’ve stopped a while back. Any insight with what these numbers are now saying and mean would be helpful
