Below range Active B12, Increasing serum B12, Low folate
Hi My health board (in Scotland) doesn’t use the Active B12 test so they are unwilling to accept the Medichecks test I had done which showed a slightly below range result - 36pmol (37.5 - 188) They have retested my serum B12 and folate: Serum B12 315ng/L (187-883) Folate 2.7 (3-20) My serum

elevated liver enzymes
Does anyone else have experience of raised liver enzymes whilst takin steroids? My recent blood test showed a GGT ( gamma gluts ultrasound transferease) reading of 340. A normal reading should be under 30. It has not been elevated in former blood tests. I am taking 12 mgs defazacort per day. Equivalent

Gut is now at metaplasia stage and it's irreversible. Need advice, friends.
Hello, It has been some time since I last wrote so I will refresh your memories a bit. In a nutshell, I was diagnosed with autoimmune atrophic gastritis two years ago which caused PA and b12 deficiency. I take 1000 mcg B12 cyanocobalamin once daily but sometimes twice if I'm feeling poorly at the end

Self-injecting 2 ml EOD.
Hi Family…. Has anyone self-injected 2 ml EOD, subcutaneous? If so has there been any adverse reactions, I currently inject 1ml EOD, for about 6 months. PA brought on-by years of taking PPI’s for GERD. In the beginning I really didn’t know what I was doing I tried, B12, strips, sprays, tablets, patches

Help please to understand my recent tests and what supplements I should be taking.
Recent blood tests following increase 8 weeks ago of levothyroxine to 100mcg daily from 100mcg 3 x a week, 50mcg 4 x a week. Could someone please help me to determine what supplements I should be taking. GP has suggested 1000 units of Vit d. I think my ferritin and possibly folate looks low also.

Low Folate
Hi, back in August I had blood tests done as I was feeling unwell which I thought it was due to my thyroid levels but turned out to be low folate. I was prescribed 5mg folic acid for 3 months and then had another blood test which showed my levels had increased and were in range, so the tablets were

Are my iron levels ok?
Hi. At last I have managed to get a blood test done for iron levels. Could you, Sue Johnson, please comment on them? I feel the ferritin is quite high, which should be good, but am not sure about the other results. Ferritin: 176.5. Ug/ L 10.0-291.0 Serum Iron 16.1. Umol/L. 9.0-30.4 Transferrin

Hydroxocobalamin supplies.
It looks as though the new owners of Panpharma are now concentrating on selling by repackaging their B12 for local sales. In UK its Accord Healthcare. This is probably why we cannot get it from German pharmacies. I cannot tolerate having my vital amine supplies threatened so I have looked elsewhere.

Reasonable Adjustment and wellbeing at work
For anyone else struggling in the workplace with hypothyroidism and multiple symptoms. I realise I’ve been very lucky, I do worry about being labelled but my only other option would be to reduce my hours which I can’t afford. I’m a teacher in an FE college, almost full time (0.92). A couple of weeks

Anti depressants and RLS
Hi fellow sufferers. I weaned myself off of Sertraline in the summer as partly responsible for worsening my severe RLS. And I had an iron infusion in August. For the last 4-5 weeks I have been symptom free of RLS, though still on 50mg pregabalin. But I find myself at an all time low for other reasons

B12/B9 balance
Since diagnosis with PA last year, I have had bi-monthly B12 injections and take a daily supplement of folic acid (Boots, 2 tablets). I have noticed that for 5-6 days after each injection I have signs of anaemia (odd sensation in feet, purple patches on fingers and some incontinence). I have also noticed

Newbie to this group (hello!), iron overload and possible PA question :/
Hello all, I'm new to this group, I have autoimmune thyroid disease, but along with it have been looking at sorting out my iron and B12, so would like to share this here, apologies for the long post... I'm new to dealing with PA, please be gentle :) Recently I've been feeling pretty crap - the usual

B-12 is Low (398), Folate is High, HCY is 55.6, uMMA is 1.7 , vitamin D and C and Magnesium are Low, all B vitamins are low.
Why is the GP not taking my labs seriously, I've been taking methylcobalamin tablets for a year and just began 5-MTHF because of Folate Deficiency found in my DNA, GP declined to do a MMA Blood serum test, I have been allergic to milk and beef since birth, peanuts followed with life threatening allergies

Anemia of Chronic Disease
My recent CBC yielded numbers that suggested I am anemic. My iron levels are normal and my B12 is also normal, albeit in the low range of normal. I was told that I have anemia of chronic disease caused by my thyroid condition (low functioning thyoid, maybe Hashimoto's). Anyone else have experience

how do you get PA
hi everyone This may sound like a stupid question but I was wondering what makes you get pernicious anemia? Also is anyone experiencing fatigue whilst still taking the injection, I’ve got to wait another 4 weeks before my next one and I feel so tired

Request for more levothyroxine following results from Medichecks
Hi all, I’m very upset as had a conversation ( more like a shouting match to be honest) with GP who is insistent that he won’t prescribe more levothyroxine as I’m within range ( after him asking me to send a copy of my medichecks results) because on my request I stated that I should be prescribed iron

Deep Brain Stimulation
Study from China on Parkinson's patients with RLS showed Deep Brain Stimulation reduced RLS & helped sleep.I certainly wouldn't consider it. Seems too extreme but if the Parkinson's patients are having the treatment to help tremor, it would be sensible to see if stimulation in another area relieves RLS
