Umbilical Endometriosis surgery
Hello! I’m a new member with long-term umbilical endometriosis. I’m going to see a surgeon tomorrow (the fourth one I’ve seen now - loooong story), but he is in the colorectal department. I’ve been reading up on some bellybutton surgeries for endo, but most of them seem to have been performed by a gynaecologist

Son tested positive for gastric parietal cell antibodies
My son has history with h pylori, which he was treated for, but the symptoms haven't gone away completely. Last week I was talking about my own b12 deficiency and he informed me he has the same symptoms. I know he has been more tried than normal, but I put it due to the h pylori, after effects. As that

High stomach pH
I have just done a second gut microbiome test. The first one I did in August last year showed I had a score of 7.2, which indicated I have little stomach acid. The one I have just done has come back higher at 8.1 (ideal range should be 5.8 - 6.5). Does anyone else have this? Is is a good indication

Active B12 gone down
Hello, I have been on loading doses (initially from my GP and now SI) for 7 weeks and am slowly improving. My initial active B12 was 48.1 ng/L, serum 162. I was on daily oral B12 supplements at the time so my results were skewed. I know that blood tests after injections are considered pointless but

blue lips side effect olaparib
I’ve just started olaparib maintenance therapy following debunking and chemo that finished in January. I have started to get blue lips. My only other side effects are joint pain (helped by onega 3 and exercise) and mild nausea. Has anyone else had blue lips? Is it serious?

Interesting update for those in the UK whose GP practice has Buprenorphine red listed
Finally, after months of hitting my head against a brick wall with my GP practice, where Buprenorphine is firmly red-listed (and the partners flatly refuse to change their stance, even after being presented with all the research we know about on this site), I have been able to obtain an NHS prescription

Private GP visit
I saw I private GP today as I felt with more time to go through my symptoms and tests I might get somewhere. But she is of the opinion that my B12, ferritin and folate levels were all fine and nothing to worry about. They are within range. I asked about my symptoms, but she didn’t feel they warranted

Reaction to Denosumab injection
I had my first 6 monthly injection a couple of weeks ago. 2 nights later I was up every half hour to pee and/or poo all night! Since then I've had a lot of grumbly tummy and also pain - shoulders, neck, arms - a bit like PMR but not quite. Upping the pred didn't seem to make much difference. Could these

Blood test results in full. Can anyone find a cause in there for my continued fatigue etc?
I still have the same symptoms, although some have improved a bit, but not gone, by any means. Still housebound. I list below Blood test results. Can anyone suggest an issue that may cause my symptoms because my GP says no action, normal. Serum 25 - HO Vit D3 level 135nmol/L 50-174

Success with GP - for now
Just had an appointment with my GP and after lots of persuasion and me quoting NICE guidelines at him, he's agreed to reinstate my previous daily 100mcg Levo. 🥳This does come with the condition of reassessing in 6-8 weeks after bloods done. (I'll cross that bridge when I get there) I got the usual

newly diagnosed anemia
Hi. I’m new to HealthUnlocked and to this group. I’m also in America, so I hope it’s OK that I post here. I’ll try to put in all the info I have and follow proper posting guidelines. It’s taken me a while to be able to get this post all typed up due to tiredness and brain fog. I just had 3 month follow-up

Help with blood test results, please.
I was diagnosed with B12 Deficiency with Pernicious Anemia in 2018. I was given the six loading doses and injections every 12 weeks. After about two years I was able to get them changed to every 8 weeks. Although that did seem to help I am still not feeling myself. I keep track of all of my blood

Peginterferon and platelets
I started taking peginterferon 45 mg in November 2023 with a platelet count of 860. Since then, my bloods have been checked monthly, and my dose gradually increased. On Monday I will start 180 mg, alternating the dose weekly with 135 mg for a month, as my platelet count is now 665 and my Haematologist

Muscle Damage
Hi all. I’m wondering if any of you have experienced muscle damage from self-injecting, and if so how did you know? How long did it take to heal? The last couple of months or so, it seems like I’m having an increasingly difficult time injecting my thighs. The injection itself seems to go really well

A long shot…
Hi, I’m usually posting to the pernicious anaemia forum but I’m also hypo. I have downloaded the list containing NHS endocrinologists and I was wandering? I’m on a journey to discover, on behalf of my GP, whom he can write to in the NHS (a consultant) who is sympathetically knowledgeable concerning B12D

Methyl or Hydro B12 injections - is it safe to switch between both each month?
Is it safe to switch between different types of B12 injections? For example, one month I take the hydroxocobalamin injection and the next month i take the methylcobalamin injection? I feel better with methylcobalamin , but I’m only prescribed the hydroxocobalamin but I’m thinking to take methylcobalamin
