I have choroidal melanoma

Hi, I'm 17 and 15 days ago I was diagnosed with melanoma. I wasn't told a stage, just that it was at the back of my eye and that I'd be getting plaque radiation treatment. On July 10 I go in for surgery but I'm terrified. I have to write this out because after reading on it I'm terrified I'll be dead before I'm 30. Here's a photo of the treatment.

Good morning! I bet you are scared! I don’t have ocular melanoma but I do know someone that does have it. He was diagnosed 10 years ago and is doing get. Don’t give up hope! Yes, this sucks and it is scary but there is hope. Looks like you are having the same treatment my friend had. He leads a pretty normal life now. I hope this helps! Take care and good luck!

Hello! I also had ocular melanoma. I was treated three years ago, I was 29 when I was diagnosed. How has your diagnosis been with school? I was almost done with my masters degree when I was diagnosed. I had to take a semester break due to the diagnosis.

I opted to have my eye removed. There’s quite a few support groups on Facebook, if you’re not on them already. I would recommend the Ocular Melanoma & Eye Cancer Patients Forum.

I was diagnosed over the summer, I'm actually leaving for Miami tomorrow and surgery is Tuesday

Hi I read a great book about a woman with ocular melonoma who got very proactive about her health and diet and is alive now many years later and in good health! I'm trying to remember the name of it! I have it at home so email me if you want it and I will send you the title. [e-mail]
