high cholesterol
Down from what level and how long has it been at that kevel? Ignoring familial, cholesterol can increase for various reasons in order to protect you from underlying conditions. So best to address those.
Have a look at your diet.
There are some dietary theories that say carbohydrates can raise cholesterol others say it's fat. As people are individuals with different genes it will vary from person to person.
I found by limiting bread I lowered my cholesterol and I mostly ate wholewheat bread. I know from talking to others they have to limit pasta or rice. While with others it's completely different food.
There's advice on NHS online I think. But don't assume all cholesterol is bad for you. Drs seem to want to dish out statins like sweets.
Also, have you have full thyroid tests done? If so have you got the results, with the reference ranges? Being hypothyroid (underactive) very often leads to high cholesterol. When the thyroid is well medicated, cholesterol levels will reduce. Drs don't all know this though

I had high cholesterol but after refusing statins because of their aching muscles side effects, and being over 80yrs they don't give much protection anyway. I have got it down by not eating carbohydrates in potatoes, pasta, bread, scones. I eat about 1 or 2 slices of whole meal bread a day, if that. I keep my weight down to correct BMI by rarely eating puddings, cakes. They keep putting down the accepted 'normal' level of cholesterol. I think around 6 is acceptable. Many doctors seem to think they have to find a pill for every 'ill' !! Good Luck
