Hi Betty, I used to get bad reflux but then I discovered that eating oranges caused it. I am careful with acidic foods now especially after my evening meal.

I have gastritis and can't take any of that family of drugs as they make my IBS worse so I stick to a low acid diet and I have no issues at all now. There's loads of information online if you Google low acid diet

There are a few natural supplements you can Google and read up on to try. After doing this myself I learned the hard way that the only way to combat acid reflux safely is through diet. Anything you take into your body is going to affect your entire system and not just the acid reflux. A mainly plant-based diet is the only 'cure' I (and many I've talked to) have found for acid reflux.

Sorry to hear you are suffering Betty.

I have finally got rid of my reflux and functional dyspepsia. For several years I tried everything natural I could. Low Fodmaps, low acid, supplements etc. I even took Lansoprazole which caused me liver damage and so in desperation I went on a low carb diet, as I kept reading and hearing how successful this had been for others. I did not go Ketogenic low, but kept carbs to under a hundred grams a day. with the help of this app on the internet that tracked how much I was eating of all food groups.

myfitnesspal.com/

I immediately noticed a massive reduction in reflux, bloating and pain. I have kept to this diet since and now eat up to about 150 maximum grams of complex carbs a day. (Beans, Lentils, whole grains, fruits and vegtables).

No sugar ever, and no white breads, cakes, or other refined carbs. Every time I cheat, there it is reflux.

Some people just struggle with Carbs.

All the very best Alaura.x
