You folks are incredible. Can’t believe how intelligent, supportive most are. Hope to become part of such a positive community. My gratitude is huge.

Money buys you a dog who stops you ever feeling lonely, takes you out for walks, and introduces you to other like-minded folk out there....!

Keep busy and good luck with the healthy eating plans....

Thanks for the thought. I really want a dog & have fenced in yard. However my Sister died unexpectedly & I had promised her if anything ever happened I’d take care of her cat Weentzie. She hides from everyone else. She would run away. Keeping my promise. All the best. Gary

That’s a lovely thing you did for your sister...taking in her cat. Maybe there is a dog’s home nearby where you could do volunteering to walk the dogs? Other volunteering options might also get you out into the community...driving the elderly to their hospital appointments, befriending schemes, all sorts of charity work? That is assuming you have the time to spare of course. Keeping busy, even if it is only out working in the garden or on an allotment will divert you from mindless snacking, and make you feel good in yourself.

Hi, WeentzieDad,

I live alone (bereaved, my wife's funeral was two years ago today).

Have you thought about using the "Find people near me" facility of this forum?

Click on your Avatar, and then on "Find people near me".

I get out of the house and meet people through Age Concern (or Age UK) - do they operate in your area? The meals are only £4, and "diet compatible".
