Xylitol in breath mints and chewing gum sometimes gives me diarrhea. A friend also told me that it is very bad for dogs. Unfortunately I don't know why. However, when I started with the diet I used Xylitol. Lately I try to go without any sweeteners. I conquered my sweet tooth. I weaned myself gradually and then I didn't buy another packet.

This is my experience with Xylitol. I hope someone on the forum knows what type of sweetener is the best.

I am addicted to sweeteners and having trouble weaning myself off them I have come down from 6 per cup to 4, so far, I know this is a lot, but I guess I must have a sweet tooth or something, well done to you on coming off sweeteners

It is not easy. There was times that I stood in the kitchen thinking I'll go crazy if I don't get something sweet.

I think it is a good idea to try and reduce your sweet tooth, and I am saying that as someone who has a very sweet tooth!

Eating more healthily can change your ' threshold' to all kinds of things including sweetness.
